After visiting the slums of Kenya during college, Founder and CEO Micah McElveen realized he had a choice: “I can spend the rest of my life trying to forget what I saw, or I can spend the rest of my life trying to do something about it.” Inspired by James 4:14, Micah understood that life is fleeting and decided to start Vapor Ministries in 2005 to make a difference. What began as one man living and working out of his car has expanded to nearly 1,000 team members across four countries. See the incredible documentary here: Alive to Live

Vapor Ministries establishes locally built and operated outreach centers in communities facing extreme poverty. Each center addresses critical physical and spiritual needs by providing clean water, nutritious food, essential health services, quality education, and the gospel. Through sports leagues, young people encounter the gospel and receive Christ-centered mentorship, while older youth and adults gain practical skills through vocational training that equips them to build sustainable livelihoods and break cycles of poverty.

Contributions from a dedicated group of churches and profits from Vapor Thrift Stores cover the ministry's administrative and fundraising costs. This funding model ensures that every dollar given by donors directly supports life-changing programs that provide clean water, nutritious food, essential health services, and daily discipleship to hundreds of thousands of people each year.
