From Dream to Reality: The Gospel Taking Root in West Africa

On Friday, July 25, a dream became reality in Sokome, Togo. Vapor Ministries celebrated the grand opening of its seventh global outreach center - the second in Togo - and it was a day filled with hope, joy, and the unmistakable presence of God’s hand at work.

Distinguished community leaders, including the area king, the education minister, and village elders, joined Vapor team members, guests from the U.S., and more than 500 local men, women, and children for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the new facility.

Your compassion was already flowing into this community long before construction began two years ago. Through countless relationship-building efforts, outreach initiatives, and prayer, the foundation for this center was laid in hearts before a single brick was placed. During construction, hundreds of work opportunities were created in a region where jobs are scarce, and thousands heard the Gospel, with hundreds surrendering their lives to Christ.

The very next day, 1,315 children and youth eagerly registered for Vapor’s discipleship leagues, joining the hundreds of thousands we are serving weekly, and the more than 10,000 who are in our multi-day per week Bible-based mentoring programs. Because of your faithful generosity, Sokome is no longer just a dream, it is a beacon of hope, life, and eternal impact for a community named after a voodoo deity and ravaged by poverty and spiritual darkness. Now, as the gospel continues to penetrate hearts, and souls come to know the one true God, vital physical needs are being met through Vapor's clean water initiative, food programs, health services, and access to education and knowledge share.

The Vision Expands

Sokome is just the beginning. It marks the second of 11 new centers Vapor plans to establish as part of a bold vision launched with the Kris Barr Center in Ferrier, Haiti, in 2023. By 2031, we aim to bring our total number of centers to 16 — each one a living testimony of God’s faithfulness and your willingness to be His hands and feet. This would allow us to serve millions weekly and multiply outreach in underserved, less reached, and unreached areas.

Work is already underway on a facility in Agou, Togo, while land has been purchased and plans finalized for another center in Sierra Leone. Teams from Kenya, Togo, and Haiti are already being trained and sent to serve in these new fields, answering the Lord’s call to reach the nations.
